Instrument Engineer

We have a number of newly created opportunities for experienced Instrument/Electrical Engineers looking to develop their career in the rapidly evolving field of engineering data management. Our engineers apply their technical expertise and problem-solving abilities to support the build of digital twins for the process engineering sector.

A personal development plan will be established to build knowledge of a wide range of evolving technologies. This includes digital transformation, AI, IM (Information Management) standards, IM principles and emerging solutions for Engineering IM including Phusion’s rapidly evolving suite of software solutions.

Role Outline & Key Responsibilities

  • You will work as part of an integrated project team who are tasked with reviewing, organising, structuring and inputting the technical information required to build a digital twin for a new build or existing asset.

  • Capable of applying standardised and structured engineering principles to real situations, through our web-based solutions.

  • Familiarity with the different types of engineering information needed to build and maintain a process engineering asset.

  • Knowledge of industry regulations and data standards and the ability to advise and coach members of the wider team who may not have this expertise.

  • Guide and train team members on how to read and extract data from documents such as P&ID’s and 3D models.

  • Support QA activities by reviewing a wide range of engineering information and reporting back on any anomalies and discrepancies.

  • Support Consultants and Project Managers by liaising directly with clients, attending meetings and answering client technical queries.

  • This is a largely office-based engineering role which deals almost exclusively with managing engineering data and documents and does not involve any hands-on engineering design, maintenance etc.

Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable experience within instrumentation and/or electrical disciplines, typically with a background in design and maintenance.

  • Practical knowledge of the management and flow of various types of engineering information and the systems used to manage them.

  • Familiarity with the different systems used on an asset to manage areas such as maintenance, hazardous equipment, lifting equipment, inspections etc and use this knowledge to assist with collating and structuring information for the digital twin.

  • Ability to identify valuable sources of engineering information and define which key elements may be missing.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Formal trade and engineering qualifications to degree or HND level.

  • Microsoft Office and IT skills.

  • Exposure to CMMS systems an advantage.

  • Some roles may require travel, depending on the specific project and/or team requirements.

If selected, you will be  working from Phusion HQ in Billingham, Stockton-on-Tees UK.

Availability

This is a fulltime position. You’re required to work 37.5 hours, spread over 5 days.
